HOME TOUR

melanie vassart

Welcome to Mélanie Vassart, journalist and founder of the online flea market Éloge Paris through which she celebrates the patina of time, natural materials and artisanal work.

Mélanie welcomes us into her apartment which she completely renovated with her partner a few years ago. Their family cocoon is located in the heights of western Paris, with a clear view of no less than three emblems of the capital: the Sacré Coeur, the Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower!

We had a wonderful time with Mélanie around a table dressed in the new powder pink color of Tomète and vintage tableware found by our host.

Let's discover Mélanie's interior together and learn more about her art of hosting.

What type of host are you? Team “I think about the menu and decoration weeks before” or team “last minute”?

For a special event, I
plan the decoration and development of the menu weeks in advance. But I also really like to improvise a dinner planned at the last minute.
minute.

What is your ideal number of guests?

Between 6 and 8 is nicer
when the table is full.

If you could invite just one guest to your next dinner party, living or dead, who would it be?

Pedro Almodóvar to do the
full of creativity.

A song that we will definitely listen to if we are invited to your house:

“Pacific Sonata” by
The Empress and Isaac Delusion.

The cocktail or drink you can expect to taste when you arrive home:

A gin and fruit cocktail
reds concocted by my companion.

Your dream menu includes:

Lots of small dishes to
share to taste as many things as possible, and a lemon meringue pie for dessert. Accompanied of course by a bottle of Petit Chablis and delicious bread.

What gift do you usually give your hosts when you are invited?

A good bottle (or two) and
A bouquet of flowers.

What place does tableware have in your family? A memorable memory or something special to share about your family meals?

We always had a table
in the kitchen, also all our daily meals were taken in this room. The dining room was reserved for special occasions and my mother
took the opportunity to take the beautiful dishes and tablecloths out of the cupboard. It was always a moment of excitement and great joy.

A recipe or decoration book to recommend to help our readers prepare their next receptions?

“Balls: The 32 recipes of
meatballs” by Jérémie Kanza, Salomée Vidal, Christine Legeret and Charlotte Lascève. All the recipes are delicious and have their effect!

Share an anecdote about your worst (or best) experience around the table when you hosted at your home?

Meals at our house often
tendency to last longer than necessary. One of my best memories is a brunch that started at 11:30 a.m.-12 p.m. on a Sunday, which turned into
snack, then as an aperitif, then in the evening. It was necessary to improvise, but this moment will be remembered for its success in simplicity.

Your favorite at Tomète:

My latest favorite is gold napkin jewelry, and in particular the sun model that I imagine shining perfectly on a summer table.

Who would you like to see on our newspaper for our next Home Tour?

Juliana from House of Prose, who
creates always incredible floral table arrangements.
