Discover all our recommendations for maintaining your Tomète products, so that they last for many years.
Linen household linen
Unlike other materials, the more you wash linen, the softer, more supple and beautiful it becomes. It can obviously be washed by hand, but also in the machine. Be careful, however, with older machines, which end up damaging all fibers, including linen... We recommend that you wash your colored linen table linen at 40°C and up to 60°C for white or in case of tasks. Do not overload the machine and separate the colors.
No need for special detergent. Choose a mild detergent, and avoid detergents containing chlorine or bleaching agents, which could tarnish and/or damage your linen table linen.
We recommend 600 to 800 revolutions per minute maximum. Beyond that, you risk damaging the fiber.
Preferred: air drying! Linen is a material that dries quickly! If you have adequate space, we advise you to let your linen table linen air dry, flat or laid out.
Machine drying: machine drying is also possible, but choose a gentle cycle.
Ironing is optional. Indeed, if not ironed, your linen table linen will keep its natural, slightly wrinkled and chic appearance.
If you are not a fan of the wrinkled appearance, you can iron your table linen at low heat and making sure that your linen is still slightly damp.
- red wine : Did a few drops escape from the glasses? Rub the stain with sparkling water and put your laundry in the machine as soon as possible.
- greasy substances : lather the stain with dishwashing liquid and water, then let your laundry rest overnight before putting your laundry in the machine
- coffee and tea : dab your laundry with water then put white vinegar on the stain. Put your laundry in the machine as soon as possible.
- blood : in the event of a cut, soak the blood stain in physiological serum and put your laundry in the washing machine as soon as possible.
- candle : remove as much wax as possible without scraping, place the fabric between two pieces of paper towel, then apply a hot iron to absorb the remaining wax.
- Grass : soak the stain with rubbing alcohol (for colored linen) or lemon juice (for white linen). Then, head to the washing machine!

Percale cotton bed linen can be machine washed at 40°C or 60°C depending on the degree of soiling. A temperature of 40°C is ideal for regular washing and to preserve the softness of the fabric, while 60°C allows for a more thorough cleaning. Wash your linen separately from other textiles to avoid friction and preserve the quality of the weave.
Choose a mild, liquid detergent without harsh bleaching agents to avoid damaging the color and texture of the fabric. If your laundry is white, you can use a detergent specially designed to keep the whites bright.
A spin cycle at 800-1000 rpm is recommended for a good balance between moisture removal and fiber preservation. Excessive spinning can wrinkle the fabric and make it more difficult to iron.
Air drying is ideal for maintaining the suppleness of percale cotton. Hang your laundry to dry immediately after washing to reduce wrinkles. If using a tumble dryer, choose a gentle cycle at a low temperature to avoid weakening the fibers.
Percale cotton tends to wrinkle slightly, but its naturally smooth appearance after laying on the bed limits the need for ironing. If you want a flawless finish, a light ironing may be sufficient.
Ironing your clothes while they're slightly damp helps smooth out wrinkles. Use an iron set to a medium temperature (cotton) and, if necessary, activate the steam function for perfect results.
- Grease stains : Apply dishwashing liquid or Marseille soap to the stain before washing.
- Blood stains : Rinse with cold water and rub with soap before machine washing.
- Coffee or tea stains : Dab with a mixture of water and white vinegar before washing.
- Makeup Stains : Use a little baking soda and water to remove stains before washing.
Quick stain removal is always key to preventing set-in dirt!
