HOME TOUR

at Juliette's table at Maison Four workshop

Welcome to Juliette, the founder of Atelier Maison Quatre, the brand that brilliantly reinterprets a long-forgotten object: the mazagran.

We fell in love with these creations, offered in soft, contemporary colors and handcrafted in Portugal. We share many values with Atelier Maison Quatre and were keen to blend our worlds.

Juliette welcomes us to her home in Paris for teatime around a table that perfectly blends her lovely mazagrans and the Tomète tableware. She shares with us her vision of the art of hosting and her family memories.

What kind of host are you? Team "I think about the menu and decor weeks in advance" or team "last minute"?

I'm more of a last-minute team, but with attention to detail! I like my guests to feel comfortable, so even when improvising, there are always three essentials at my house: good local produce, fresh flowers, and a good playlist.

What is your ideal number of guests?

Between 4 and 6 people, the ideal number for a friendly atmosphere... and especially because it's the maximum capacity of my table ;)

If you could invite one guest to your next dinner party, living or dead, who would it be?

My grandparents, Joséphine and César, were my inspiration for reinventing the mazagran and creating my first business. I'd love to share a coffee with them in this new version of their iconic cup, tell them how this simple everyday object became the starting point of my entrepreneurial adventure. And, of course, see if they approve of the design!

A song we'll definitely listen to if we're invited to your place:

Cleo Sol - Why Don't You.

The cocktail or drink that we can hope to taste when we arrive at your place:

A good coffee, from MOMUS, my favorite roaster.

Your dream menu includes:

A generous afternoon tea, with pastries, madeleines, some fruit and of course, a good coffee – with a touch of Chérico chicory for a change.

What gift do you usually give to your hosts when you are invited?

A bouquet of flowers. It's always a welcome gesture.

What role does the art of dining play in your family? Do you have a memorable memory or a special feature to share about your family meals?

It's a true tradition in our house. Everyone has their own way of setting a table and expressing their personality: my father likes to mix and match his vintage glasses, my mother favors a classic and timeless approach, while my sister opts for sophisticated and maximalist tables. As for me, I prefer a clean and minimalist style.

A memorable memory? My first meal with friends at home in Paris, after several years abroad. I was missing chairs and a lot of essential kitchen items, but it didn't matter: the important thing was being together.

Do you have a recipe or decorating book to recommend to help our readers prepare for their next receptions?

I love Josée di Stasio's book (or her website!). Her recipes are always delicious, accessible, and stress-free. For a successful afternoon snack, I often look to her online brunch and dessert ideas. A wealth of inspiration.

Your favorite at Tomète:

The sublime jewel-like knife rests and napkin rings. Small, delicate details that make all the difference.

Who would you like to see on our newspaper for our next Home Tour?

Désirée Fleurs, talented florists in the 11th arrondissement. Their arrangements are top-notch, and in my opinion, flowers are a must-have for enhancing a table.
